The information on the web site is created from two main sources, the "Events" and the "News".
Think of the web site like a Newspaper, you have the front page, the classified and the sports results. Each Journalist enters his particular story and the Editor builds up the pages from these stories into pages, moving some on to the front page, others, such as pictures, on to page 3.
With Bridgewebs, you do something similar, you enter the information into different parts and then choose how to build the web site. The main "News" type pages are built from "Stories", in Bridgewebs these are called "News Items". Each "News Item" can have a title, the text, a picture and a link to another "News Item". You can have several "News Items" making up a page and "Page Options" to control the layout. The "List News Items" shows all the "News Items" and where each is used. So if you click "List News Items" and then go down to "Home Page" you can click on any item to amend or delete it. You can also click on ‘add news item’ create a new story and assign it to a page.
The "News" pages are each created in the same way, but the style of each can be changed using the "Page Options" button for each page.
The "Home" page has extra features, so that you can add boxes on the "Left" or the "Right", but otherwise is the same.
If you want to enter or modify an item so that it temporarily does not show for some reason rather than deleting it, set the page to "Hold".
To get started:
- Login into Web Administration
- Click on "Home Page" in the Admin version of the Menu
- You will be given an "Admin" view of the page with [Amend] against each "News Item"
- Click on [Amend] to change an existing "News Item"
- or Click on the options "Add News Item" at the top to create a new "News Item"
- on the "Home Page", if you click on view item, there are 3 add buttons, corresponding to left, middle or right, to allow you to specify where you want the new item to appear.
- Enter a title
- Enter text in to the "Word Processing" like Editor box.
- Click [Save] and you have added/amended a "News Item" and the web site will be updated.
If you have more than one item on a page, an extra [Move Down] button will appear on the "Amend" view allowing you to position where in the page, the "News Item" is to appear.
Much more detail is contained in a further Section.
